I'm a seneor in high school and it's comming to prom time. Some of my friends and I are renting a limo, and I have to go out and buy a dress soon. As for a date, I'm thinking about asking one of the guys in my youth group who doesn't go to my school but who's been a friend of mine since we were little. I'm not sure what we'll do after prom, but we're thinking about bowling or karaoke. So, what did you do for your prom and do you have any good stories?

ug, my Junior prom started out as a nightmare. We went to chateau on the lake. needless to say it is on a lake. We had major tornadoes and the entire place we were eating dinner at was glass. We all had to sit under the table for like one hour. Fun, not expecially in our dresses! lol! My dates house was hit by the tornadoe and his parents were out of tow. After the weather chilled a bit, we did end up going to prom and the after prom thingy. It still ended up a fun time. Lol! smile- angel

There is in Britain a different kind of prom, nay, two different kinds in fact: the first is the walk alongside the beach or on the pier (I forget which) that one finds at seasides, often complete with brass bands etc. hence 'Oh I do like to stroll along the prom, prom, prom, where the brass bands play, tiddly-om-pom-pom.' and the second is of course the annual festival of classical music known as the BBC proms. The last night of the proms is one of the most famous classical music concerts and is contributed to by most, if not all, members of the commonwealth. I just thought that such matters should be shared with our transatlantic cousins. and Gloucester have just scored a try by the way, making it Gloucester 19, bath 16.

we don't have a so called prom in this country, but I grew up in South Africa and there we have something similar called the matric fairwell. basically the students in the class below raise the money through various means and they put on the party - and all go out and spend a fortune on dresses etc. and of course it's one of those times when those who are not so popular have a rough time finding dates etc. While I think having a school leaving party is the best idea ever, I think the idea of a prom, or whatever you call it is too much like a popularity contest.
